We went to Carrickfergus Castle!

31st Jan 2017

P1M had a great day at Carrickfergus Castle!

We got in the bus, put on our seat belts and headed off to the castle. When we got there Jackie our guide met us. She told us the guard was called Godfrey and the Princess who lived in the castle was called Princess Africa. We saw the trap roof where poo might have been poured down on people they didn't want to enter the castle! When we went inside the keep we saw the well which went down down down down down! We thought we could see people but it was only our reflection in the still water at the bottom of the well! We found out the castle was built where it is because all Castles needed a well to get them water and this well was already here so Sir John built the castle around the well. We found out lots more information about who might live in a castle, how they kept warm, how they kept food fresh without a fridge, what food they got and a banquet, who went in the dungeon and at the very end some of us even got to dress up!

Why don't you look at the pictures and ask your child about their trip?
